The meeting took place at Brancaster on Thursday & Friday 11-12 October during the highest tides of the year. To get an idea of what the course looks like during high tides look at this drone footage. There were also very strong winds from the South which made most holes more difficult than usual but the average Stableford score was a creditable 29 points.

Sadly our Bernard Darwin effort this year came to a juddering halt in the first round versus Eton whom we beat in this event last year and in the Halford Hewitt this year. So following the result at Lord’s the old foe had a good month. The match hinged on the final two matches which went to the 18th after Steve Posford and Jamie Warman won the top match 3/2 (Posford notably hitting the centre of the fairway all day).

The OHGS Scottish Meeting’s main event is at Muirfield but other great courses are included for those who make the trip.

Public Schools Midland Meeting, June 2018

The OHGS Team at Little Aston 2018 A tournament to be held in the Midlands for Public Schools was conceived in the late 1930’s and the driving force behind it was one M. K. Foster. Over 110 players from 13 schools now compete for five separate trophies at Little Aston annually. The foursomes format consists of 18 holes in the morning and 15 in the afternoon with great camaraderie and conviviality at lunch, afternoon tea and a well patronised Pimms bar at the halfway house.

Harrow entered their carefully selected team of 6, led by Andrew Aylwin for the first time as Captain, consisting of – Andrew partnering Viscount Foley Gort, a new recruit from Isle of Man with 3 handicap; John Sheffield (more strength from the northwest!) & Hugh Stevenson;
