“Despite the absence of one team member bed-ridden by flu, the OHGS beat the Brigade of Guards 4.5 to 2.5 at Worplesdon, ending a 3-year run of losses. The rain kept away for most of the day and the OHGS team stayed remarkably sober despite severe alcoholic temptation at lunch.

Autumn Meeting 2014

We had a very successful Autumn Meeting on Thursday & Friday 18-19th September, a little earlier in the year than normal, which may have accounted for the relatively low turnout. This was compensated for by some new and younger players being able to come and win some trophies.

Easily our strongest side for many years lined up, with potential to win the trophy, but unfortunately Ashley Brewer had to pull out the day before through illness, and Jeffrey Bonas, OHGS President stepped in against Uppingham.

Halford Hewitt 2014

This year’s Halford Hewitt saw us drawn at Royal St. George’s against Eastbourne in round 1. Despite having won against Eastbourne a few years earlier, we knew they were a good, young side.

OHGS SCOTTISH REGIONAL MEETING – 20th JUNE – BRUNTSFIELD

We were blessed with great weather and after a good lunch sallied forth in a 3 ball and 4 ball format playing full stableford handicaps. The nearest the pin on the 7th was won by James Wilce with a nice amount of backspin to land the ball by the pin. On the following hole the longest drive went to William North who managed to keep the ball on the fairway.
