Society Origins
The OHGS Committee is appointed according to the Rules of the Society which have recently been updated. The update was required to allow for modern media such as this website and the use of email and social media but also included some changes dealing with committee roles. Before the change, there were many committee members without portfolio which put a lot of pressure on the Hon. Secretary and placed the fortunes of the society into his hands. Following the change, each committee member has a specific role which spreads the workload more equitably and increases the overall time spent on nurturing the Society.
In recognition of outstanding service to the Society, particularly in matches, members may be elected as honorary Vice Presidents. This is not an executive role unless they also join the committee. For a list of VPs please see the Main Committee link below.
