The Autumn Meeting at
THE ROYAL WEST NORFOLK GOLF CLUB, BRANCASTER, NORFOLK
The Autumn Meeting is very popular because Brancaster is such a special place with the access to the golf course affected by high tides and the course often made tricky by strong winds. The meeting takes place on a Thursday and Friday in late September or early October and there is usually a warm up on the day before at Royal Newmarket and Worlington, regarded as one of the finest 9 hole courses in the country. Most players stay with local members and meet up for a pub supper on the Wednesday evening. There is a black tie dinner on the Thursday night held either in the clubhouse or a nearby alternative when the tides are too high. Harrow Songs are enjoyed after the dinner with suitable put-ons. The meeting normally finishes at lunchtime on Friday with prize-giving but if there is a large field then the finals of the knockouts will take place after lunch.
COMPETITIONS
To speed up play in the competitions we adopt the rule that you may drop a replacement ball near where you think your lost ball lies for a two shot penalty rather than going back to replay the shot. Please note that tidal water is casual water. Members aged 70 and over may make use of the forward tees.
