The Halford Hewitt

The Halford Hewitt is the premier event on the OHGS calender, and takes place during the second week of April.

Founded in 1924, it comprises 64 schools fielding 10 a side with 5 pairs of foursome scratch matchplay knockout. As such it is the largest amateur event in the world, fielding as it does 640 players.

Due to the size of the competition the first two rounds of the event are played over the great courses of Royal St Georges and Royal Cinque Ports, with the latter stages at RCP, the spiritual home of the Hewitt.

Over the years the event attracts many of the cream of amateur golf, with many Walker Cup and International players taking part.

Competition is therefore very severe, and Harrow have not won the trophy this century, something we are keen on addressing in the near future.

This is a hugely popular event for the players and supporters alike, and is usually the first date in the diary for those lucky enough to participate.
