Sunday 11 September: the plan was to meet at Sunningdale GC at 1pm for a spot of lunch, warm up in the normal Harrovian way (3 practice swings, 2 shots into the net and 1 putt) and stroll confidently to the tee, expecting birdies and eagles, but the world had other things in mind for our 4 Old Harrovian juniors.
Herewith the presentation of the Scottish Meeting OHGS Trophy held at Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society on Friday 24th June.
The Public Schools Midlands Golf Meeting was held at Little Aston on Wednesday 22nd June.
12 teams took part, Clifton being unable to raise a team. As usual the course was in excellent condition, there was barely a breeze and the warm day gave the opportunity for the most enjoyable golf in good company on this challenging course with its numerous bunkers.
Our defense of the Bernard Darwin Trophy fell on stony ground this year as we were not as strong a team as last year. However I am confident that next year we will be back to full strength as a few new 55 year olds become available for selection and a few of the older war horses can be retired to grass.
