The Harrow Association Day was once again held at the New
Zealand Club and we are most grateful to the club for allowing us to host this event at their magnificent venue.
Sadly Jonathan Green, the Match Manager for the day, who had organised the event very efficiently, could not attend on the day
as he had Covid. There were several late withdrawals for the same reason, resulting in a reduced attendance of 34.
As a result, there were 7 teams of 4 players
and two 3-balls so the scoring system
was adjusted so that the best 2 scores were scored on the par 4 and par 5 holes and the best 3
scores on the par 3s.
The conditions were relatively benign under the shadow of storm Babet but it was definitely a day for ‘yoyo’ deployment of wet weather gear. This had no impact on the course playing conditions and the greens remained true and fast despite some heavy showers.
On return from playing, we all welcomed the excellent lunch provided by the
club.
Many thanks to those who joined the event at short notice
with a special mention to George Olesen who achieved an eagle as well as winning
the Longest Drive prize on the 18th.
The team competition was very close for the first three
places with only a 2-point difference.
Many thanks to John
Macpherson (OHGS Captain) who became acting Match Manager for the day and Neil
Scaife for compiling the results.
