Noel Collison

by

Thu 25th Apr – Sad news on the passing of Noel Collison.

It is with very much sadness that we record the recent death of Noel Collison on 22nd February, aged 82. Noel was very much involved with the OHGS over many years. His Committee work culminated in the Captaincy from 1989 to 1991, and the Presidency from 2004 to 2006.

Noel supported the OHGS in many other ways, attending very many of the main meetings. His name can be seen many times on the honours lists, perhaps the most notable being the winning of the Gilroy Challenge Cup at the Autumn Meeting for three consecutive years from 1971 to 1973. Noel won the Trevor Matthews Challenge Cup at the Spring Meeting in 1983. His lowest handicap was 10..
Noel gave invaluable support to the OHGS Halford Hewitt side for many years. He was Captain of the OHGS Very Senior Darwin team for the last few years, which won the age-handiacp division several times when Noel was both player and captain.
Noel entered The School in 44-3 (Garlands & The Knoll), and left in 49-2. He had a varied career in industry, including Consultancy, and as a Volunteer with the British Excutive Service Overseas. Noel is survived by his widow, Elizabeth (Liz) and their two sons CD & NJ, who were also at The School. Our heartfelt sorrow and wishes go to Noel’s family.
