The OHGS held a very enjoyable Autumn Meeting at Brancaster. The picture shows the winner (John Macpherson) of the Gilroy Challenge Cup in front of the honours board.
We held a very successful Autumn Meeting at the Royal West Norfolk Golf Club in Brancaster on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th September 2012. Next year’s event has been booked for the 3rd and 4th October, so make a diary note if you would like to attend.
There were 26 competitors ranging in handicap from 5 to 28 and in age from early 30’s to mid 70’s. To prove the point that the competitions are open our 28 handicapper won the Secretary’s Salvers at his first Autumn Meeting.
The weather was mostly dry with the odd shower and the wind ranged from relatively benign to gusting 30mph which provided some additional challenges to club selection. We were fortunate that the tide did not come over the access road.
We had a wonderful black tie dinner at the clubhouse followed by Songs with the piano keyboard played by Charles Bonas. Unfortunately the RWNGC Captain was unable to attend and his shoes were filled by Ian Symington the club secretary who said it was his favourite annual social event (this was before he was asked to sing a solo).
