Grafton Morrish Qualifying Saturday 25th April 2009

by

Tue 28th Apr
Jeremy Fricker captained a strong OHGS team at this year”s Grafton Morrish regional qualifying strokeplay event at Royal Wimbledon Golf Club .
This was one of several regional qualifying events to be held around the UK, each involving twenty to thirty schools fielding three foursomes pairs.

The qualifying events follow an eighteen hole Scratch Stableford format, and based on the aggregate scores of their three pairs the best eight schools qualify for the matchplay finals These involve forty eight successful qualifying schools and are held in September at Hunstanton and Royal West Norfolk Golf Clubs.

Royal Wimbledon is a difficult course to score on and competition to qualify is tough. The winning score on the day was 88 by KCS Wimbledon, who include several members of RWGC amongst their number.

For Harrow Kunal Rawal & Jeremy Fricker scored 27 points, Cecil Boex & Lloyd Edwards scored 22, Will Bain & Caspar Hill scored 26. Our combined score of 75 points put us at equal 6th with Whitgift, Eton & Epsom. However, unfortunately we lost on countback so we will not be fielding a team for the matchplay finals in this year’s competition.
